Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position will prepare and present specificcourse content with summary assessment of students' academic performance;develop, administer and grade exams; hold office hours in the amount of thirty(30) minutes per course on campus at times convenient for students; maintainclass records and report grades; participate in class evaluations and an end ofsemester evaluation session; and complete all required/mandated employeetraining/professional development. Medical billing and coding courses includebut are not limited to ICD-10-CM coding, CPT, HCPCS, electronic claims, andrevenue cycle.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education

1. Bachelor'sdegree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the USDepartment of Education and evidence of appropriate familiarity with thesubject matter taught as evidenced by academic transcript and/or occupationalexperience.

2. Ifno Bachelor's degree: 1) a high school diploma or its equivalent with alicense, diploma, certificate or other degree from a recognized institution ororganization in the area taught; and 2) a minimum of four (4) years of documentedevidence of occupational experience in the area taught. Documented evidence ofoccupational experience in the area taught may be in the form of letters fromformer employer(s) verifying work experience in the area taught or a notarizedstatement attesting to work experience in the area taught. A resume submittedby the applicant does not fulfill these requirements unless it is notarized.

Minimum Qualifications

§ Allapplicants for full-time or part-time faculty teaching positions mustdemonstrate written and oral proficiency in the English language.

§ Mustbe proficient in operating a computer and experienced in Microsoft Office Word,Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

§ Atleast one year of experience teaching in a higher education setting.

JOB DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Developcourse syllabi according to the Master and Course Syllabi Format Policy anddistribute to all students on the first day of class.

2. Attendclass daily and on time. Begin lessons promptly and teach for the full durationof the course. Maintain performance standards, academic rigor, and integritywithin courses taught.

3. Pursuegoals, objectives, and activities that promote and support the mission of thecollege. Represent the college in manner, appearance, and behavior thatpromotes a positive image of the college. Adhere to all policies, procedures,and processes of Goodwill Technical College and Goodwill Industries ofSoutheastern Louisiana, Inc.

4. Makeappropriate arrangements for necessary absences according to college policy.

5. Prepareahead of time to provide lectures, lead discussions, perform demonstrations,and/or use technology which facilitates learning. Present course content in aprofessional manner and in a way that supports various learning styles.

6. Createan engaging, motivating, and healthy classroom environment that is conducive tolearning and in which all students are treated equitably and with respect.

7. Collaboratewith departmental colleagues in the selection of learning resources, software,and textbooks and in the development of master and course syllabi.

8. Participatein the assessment of student and program learning outcomes.

9. Participatein the end of semester evaluation session and the faculty evaluation process.

10. Participate in the assessment ofnon-traditional credit through developing, administering, or grading creditexaminations in the absence of a Resident Instructor.

11. Maintain and record accurate studentattendance and progress. Prepare monthly academic progress reports whenrequired by a student's funding source. Submit midterm and final grades ontime. Adhere to Instructor Exit form for end of semester requirements.

12. Adhere to all FERPA and ADA laws,guidelines, and policies.

13. Obey and enforce college policies thatprohibit eating and drinking in the classroom and the misuse of collegeproperty.

14. Adhere to all timelines established bythe college. Check emails daily and respond within 24 hours (Monday - Friday).Respond to records inquiries and other communications about students in atimely manner.

15. Hold thirty (30) minutes of office hoursper course, per week on campus.

16. Maximize the use of learning andtechnological resources. Incorporate the opportunity for students to developand expand written and oral communication skills in each course.

17. Participate in training and professionaldevelopment mandated by the college.

18. Communicate effectively with students,colleagues, and supervisors and use appropriate channels of communication withall members of the Goodwill Technical College and Goodwill Industries ofSoutheastern Louisiana, Inc. community.

19. Participate in required accreditationmaintenance activities.

20. Meet minimum Canvas use and postingrequirements.

21. Maintain contact with employers in thefield related to program area through annual visitation and personal contact(applicable to instructors in technical program areas).

PHYSICAL/MENTALDEMANDS:

Required to sit or stand(possibly for long periods of time), walk, use hands to handle or feel objects,tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop,kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; able to lift 25 pounds.
