Position Overview

We are currently seeking 18 motivated individuals to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse, rewarding projects that include commercial buildings, restoration sites, residential features, and masonry repairs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required.
  • Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools.
  • Prepare and lay bricks, concrete block, glass block and various types of stone for new build and repair/restoration projects.
  • Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing to walls or other surfaces
  • Remove and replace existing masonry work for repairs.
  • Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures.
  • Working at heights on scaffolding, swing stages or hydro mobiles.
  • General site clean up.
  • Handling weight up to 35kg (75lbs).
  • Other activities as directed.

Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • 1 to 2 years experience as Bricklayer.
  • Have a Provincial Trade Certification or Red Seal Certification or be able to demonstrate an equivalent skill level. Varying levels of skill to be assessed on the job.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication skills in English.
  • The following certifications are an asset: Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS), First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Protection.

Position Specifics:

  • This position is available to start immediately.
  • This is a union position, and wages and benefits are per the Collective Agreement. Union dues are required.
  • Pursuant to the Collective Agreement, the initial 120 days are considered a probationary period with a wage range between $39.47-$43.85/hour, plus 10% Holiday and Vacation pay. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, wage will be increased to $43.85/hour pursuant to the Collective Agreement.
  • Benefits include: Health Care Plan, Vision Care Benefits, Paramedical Services Coverage, Dental Plan, Pension Plan, Life Insurance, Disability Benefit as per the Collective Agreement.
  • Reliable transportation is an asset, as some jobsites may have limited access to public transportation.
  • You must supply your own tools, steel-toed safety boots and hard hat. Other safety equipment will be provided as required for the work environment.

  • Great hours, Monday – Friday, with most jobsites working 8 hours/day from 7:00am – 3:15pm. Hours may range between 32-40 hours/week, depending on weather and site conditions. Overtime may also be requested on occasion.

Location of Work:
Our office is located at 7615-40 Street NE, Calgary, AB T3J 4H2. Worksites will be at locations around Calgary and surrounding area, and may include some projects throughout the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.
