What you will do:

The Cook position requires a friendly, outgoing person with the ability to communicate effectively while working in a professional manner.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to upholding the highest standards of hygiene in a healthcare environment

Job Specific Duties

  • Dishwashing: Operate industrial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Sanitation: Ensure all dishes and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety regulations.
  • Kitchen Support: Assist kitchen staff with various tasks, including food prep, inventory management, and general cleaning.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Monitor dishwashing equipment for proper functioning and report any issues to maintenance staff.
  • Organization: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dishwashing area, including storage of clean dishes and utensils.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and protocols while handling chemicals and operating equipment.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Assist with special projects, events, and additional tasks as needed to support the overall operations and goals of the hospital café and broader hospital community.

What you will need

  • Previous experience in a dishwasher or kitchen utility role, preferably in a food service or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene standards related to dishwashing and food service.
  • Ability to operate industrial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in food safety or sanitation is a plus.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
