The Depot Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day depot operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality of services related to inspection, repair, maintenance, and storage of equipment such as containers, chassis, refrigerated containers, gensets, and more. This role also involves equipment sales and developing a high-performing team dedicated to delivering excellent service to internal and external customers. Base pay range $70,000.00/yr - $88,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day oversight of employees to ensure a safe and productive workplace in line with company standards and regulations. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements , as well as corporate policies and procedures related to depot operations. Monitor operational activities and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure they remain within acceptable standards. Meet customer needs and commitments by effectively managing depot activities and maintaining high service quality. Assist with the development of goals and objectives for the depot operation, focusing on production, profitability, safety, and compliance, in alignment with regional and business unit goals. Monitor employee performance, provide constructive feedback , and take appropriate action as necessary to maintain a productive workforce. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers to ensure continued business and customer satisfaction. Required Skills and Qualifications Proven experience in depot operations management , logistics, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on employee development and fostering a positive workplace culture. In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and industry regulations for depot operations. Strong ability to monitor and analyze operational performance , including KPIs, and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency and service quality. Excellent customer relationship management skills, with the ability to manage both internal and external customer expectations effectively. Solid understanding of equipment maintenance and repair processes (containers, chassis, refrigerated containers, gensets, etc.). Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve operational challenges in a timely manner. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams, external partners, and union representatives. Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening. The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing Depot/Railyard operations or similar logistical operations. Familiarity with industry regulations and safety protocols. Strong coaching and team development skills. The role involves working indoors/outdoors in a depot environment with exposure to various weather conditions. The position requires managing operational challenges and overseeing staff in an active and fast-paced setting.
