(Job #545997) Administrator II, Director of The Individualized Learning Program, Salary Range: $5,053 - $16,221; Hiring Range: $7,875 - $9,188. This is a full-time, benefited, 12-month pay plan in General Studies. This position is an Administrator II in the California State University Management Personnel Plan (MPP). Under this plan, incumbents are subject to normal management reviews and serve at the pleasure of the University President. Additional information can be found at: . Position Summary:

The Director of the Individualized Degree Program (IDP) will lead the Interdisciplinary Studies - Individualized Degree Plan (IDP), a program that provides students with a flexible and customized degree pathway. Students in the program develop a unique, interdisciplinary degree plan that incorporates courses from multiple disciplines, preparing them for diverse academic, career, and lifelong learning goals.

The IDP curriculum includes a sequence of required core courses that introduce students to interdisciplinary thinking and approaches to inquiry, equipping them with the skills to integrate knowledge across fields and apply it to complex, real-world challenges.

The program fosters a culture of interdisciplinarity, innovation, and student empowerment, supporting students as they take an active role in designing their education.

The IDP Director provides strategic and administrative leadership for the program, ensuring that it serves as a hub for interdisciplinary education and student success. This position supports students in designing customized interdisciplinary pathways toward graduation and serves as an incubator for developing new interdisciplinary degree options.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Administration

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the IDP program.
  • Oversee curriculum development, implementation, and assessment.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard and supervise program faculty and staff
  • Oversee program budget
  • Ensure that program curriculum and individual degree plans articulate with university requirements.
  • Work with the Registrar's Office to ensure degrees and transcripts articulate.
  • Represent the IDP program to internal and external constituencies.
  • Develop the IDP profile on campus
  • Lead program growth and innovation, including exploring new interdisciplinary degree pathways.

Student Advising & Success

  • Provide academic and career advising to IDP students, helping them develop cohesive and meaningful degree pathways.
  • Collaborate across academic and student services to support student success.
  • Implement student-centered strategies that promote retention, engagement, and timely graduation.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee equity-focused, inclusive academic support structures that meet the diverse needs of IDP students.

Interdisciplinary Curriculum Development & Implementation

  • Guide the development and instruction of interdisciplinary courses in online and hybrid modalities.
  • Ensure that IDP core courses effectively prepare students for interdisciplinary inquiry, critical thinking, problem-solving, career development and lifelong learning.
  • Maintain knowledge of curriculum policies, Title V, and curriculum workflow to ensure compliance and program effectiveness.

Program Promotion & Community Partnerships

  • Promote IDP as a high-impact interdisciplinary learning opportunity to prospective students, as well as to internal and external constituencies.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to create internships, career development and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Foster relationships with community colleges, industry partners, and other institutions to create pathways for student success

Collaborate with the Academic Programs team and the Dean of Undergraduate Studies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Associated with this Position Include:

The incumbent must possess a demonstrated record of successful teaching in service to a diverse student population and a strong commitment to interdisciplinarity, including knowledge of interdisciplinary pedagogies and curricular models that support student success across diverse fields. The successful applicant must demonstrate an asset-based mindset that recognizes and builds upon students' strengths and a strong commitment to creating an equity-focused, inclusive, student-centered culture and curriculum. This includes actively supporting interdisciplinary approaches that enhance student learning and engagement.

The successful candidate must also have demonstrated experience with academic planning, program development, scheduling, and assessment. A record of successful leadership and management in a shared governance environment is required.

Competencies include excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong project management and organizational skills, the ability to oversee multiple initiatives, knowledge of online teaching and learning strategies, curriculum policies, Title V, and curriculum workflows, and the ability to work in a team with collaborations across multiple areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field (e.g., interdisciplinary studies, education, social sciences, or a related discipline).
  • Teaching experience, service in a university or community setting, and a broad knowledge of curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in meeting students where they are and mentoring them in identifying and advancing toward their academic, career, and lifelong learning goals.
  • Knowledge of best practices in student-centered, flexible, and

  • Experience with high-impact practices, including experiential learning, prior learning assessment, and project-based learning.
  • Understanding of barriers to degree completion and experience implementing strategies to improve persistence and graduation rates.
