Job Description

The Electrical Estimator - High-Impact Government Builds | MD will be responsible for:

  • Establishing project timelines, delegating tasks, and monitoring key deliverables while proactively resolving any issues
  • Creating detailed cost estimates through plan/spec analysis and quantity take-offs
  • Preparing conceptual estimates using limited design information with minimal vendor input
  • Driving vendor and subcontractor engagement and managing the full RFP process
  • Reviewing, qualifying, and leveling subcontractor proposals to ensure accuracy and alignment with project requirements
  • Assembling comprehensive bid packages with clear scope and pricing breakdowns
  • Reviewing and refining bid/RFP content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with client expectations
  • Identifying potential risks and opportunities in proposals and providing strategic recommendations
  • Collaborating with internal experts and external stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality submissions
  • Drafting and editing key proposal sections such as executive summaries, technical approaches, and pricing strategies
  • Formatting and producing visually polished and professional bid documents
  • Fostering positive relationships with clients, vendors, and partners while addressing feedback and resolving conflicts
  • Contributing innovative ideas to improve bid content, processes, and presentation
  • Evaluating labor, materials, timelines, and potential risks to determine project feasibility and budgets
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to leadership through reports and presentations
  • Estimating costs for both new construction and retrofit projects
  • Reviewing plans/specs to resolve RFIs and design conflicts
  • Researching and procuring LEED-compliant products as needed
  • Supporting ongoing business development efforts through market research and relationship building
  • Performing additional duties as required to support project and company success

The Successful Applicant

The Electrical Estimator - High-Impact Government Builds | MD will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Prior experience working in the Washington, D.C. market preferred
  • Background in federal or government-sector projects is a plus
  • 3-7 years of dedicated electrical estimating experience required
  • Proven track record bidding projects ranging from $100K to $5M
  • Must hold (or be able to obtain) security clearance for government work
