Estimator - Structural and Miscellaneous Steel Fabrication - Atlanta, GA

Gryphon Oakwood are representing a fabricator of structural and miscellaneous steel located in Atlanta, GA, and are seeking a talented and motivated Estimator to join our growing team. About the Role:

As our Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing competitive bids for structural and miscellaneous steel projects. You will analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine material quantities, labor costs, and overall project expenses. Your keen eye for detail and strong analytical abilities will be essential in securing new business and contributing to our continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly review and interpret project specifications, architectural and structural drawings, and other relevant documents.
  • Accurately quantify materials (steel members, connections, bolts, etc.) for both structural and miscellaneous steel components.
  • Develop detailed and competitive cost estimates, including material costs, labor costs, fabrication costs, erection costs (if applicable), and other associated expenses.
  • Prepare clear and concise bid proposals, ensuring all aspects of the project are accurately represented.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams to clarify project requirements and address any queries.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date estimating records and databases.
  • Assist in value engineering efforts to identify potential cost savings.
  • Stay informed about current market prices for steel and other relevant materials.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our estimating processes.

What You'll Bring:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the structural and/or miscellaneous steel fabrication industry.
  • A strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in interpreting architectural and structural drawings.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with estimating software (e.g., Tekla Structures, FabSuite, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with AISC standards and requirements is highly desirable.
