Job Summary As the UCSF Industry Documents Library Education & Outreach Specialist, you'll coordinate efforts to promote and deliver the Industry Documents Library's collections, programs, and research and education services to a wide audience of scholars, scientists, historians, journalists, public health experts, and community health advocates. You'll help to create educational and reference resources including subject guides, video tutorials, and interactive workshops, and will promote these materials through blog posts, newsletter articles, and other outreach channels to increase engagement with IDL's research community. Your role is supervised by the Director of the Industry Documents Library in close collaboration with the Associate University Librarian for Collections / University Archivist, and also works with Industry Documents Library (IDL) team, which is part of the Archives & Special Collections (ASC) unit. Please note this is a half-time, limited-term position. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $38.08 - $52.43 (Hourly Rate). The UCSF Industry Documents Library (IDL) is a digital archive of more than 20 million documents obtained from industries which influence public health, hosted by the University of California, San Francisco Library. Originally established in 2002 to house millions of documents publicly disclosed in litigation against the tobacco industry in the 1990s, the IDL is now a unit within ASC and has expanded to include documents from the opioid, drug, chemical, food, and fossil fuel industries to preserve open access to this information and to support research on the commercial determinants of health. The IDL is heavily used by academic researchers, legal professionals, policymakers, journalists, community organizations, and the public, and its documents have been cited in more than 1,200 publications. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training At least 3 years of experience in a related role Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems, and recommend solutions Demonstrated interpersonal skills including diplomacy and tact in dealing with a variety of people and situations Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new tools and workflows and try out different approaches Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, with strong project management skills and the ability to use considerable judgement and take initiative Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across domains and subject specialties Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and effective professional writing style Thorough professional knowledge of a full range of specialized functional subject area activities. This knowledge may be acquired through library experience, possibly in combination with specialized training and skills or relevant academic preparation Thorough knowledge of applicable systems and databases Thorough knowledge of library data transformation techniques and software tools.
