Job Description

Job purpose

The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of inventory management across the organization, including receiving, tracking, storing, and distributing inventory efficiently and accurately. This role plays a critical part in ensuring inventory integrity, minimizing stock discrepancies, and improving overall supply chain performance. The Inventory Manager will also lead efforts to manage the full product lifecycle, including proactive monitoring and reduction of excess and obsolete inventory.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee all inventory control processes, including receiving, stocking, cycle counting, and reconciliation.
  • Develop and implement inventory tracking systems, policies, and procedures to maintain high inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement and operations to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Implement and lead regular cycle counts and full physical inventory audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Analyze inventory trends and generate reports to support forecasting, demand planning, and purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including warehouse, logistics, finance, and production.
  • Identify, track, and reduce excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory through regular analysis and actionable strategies.
  • Oversee vendor return process for stock, non-stock, or end user returned items.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP system.
  • Train, and coach warehouse staff to ensure compliance with SOPs and performance targets.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline inventory processes and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related Field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in inventory management, preferably in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management software, ERP systems (Dynamics a plus),
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage processes, and drive operational improvements.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of lean principles and inventory optimization techniques is a plus.
