Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $70,000 or salary commensurate with experience and qualifications

Position Summary

The Governors Office is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Mansion Director to serve as a front-facing representative of the Mansion and its initiatives. This individual will engage with the public, manage digital communications, and coordinate events with professionalism and minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for public inquiries and visitors to the Governor's Mansion.
  • Draft, edit, and manage written correspondence.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent presence across various social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, Threads) in line with the Governor's Office brand and messaging.
  • Coordinate logistics and planning for special events, tours, and official functions at the Mansion ensuring that all events are executed professionally and seamlessly.
  • Represent the Mansion at public and ceremonial events, ensuring a professional and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Ensure the protection and preservation of all articles of furniture, fixtures, table linens, silver, china, crystal and objects of art displayed in the state rooms and public areas of the Mansion.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for communications, schedules, and reports.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.) for documentation, scheduling, and collaboration.
  • Work independently to complete projects and respond to emerging priorities with minimal supervision.

Work Environment

  • On-site at the Governors Office with occasional evening or weekend hours for events.
  • Some travel or off-site coordination may be required.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Event Management, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in public engagement, communications, event planning, or a similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience managing social media platforms in a professional capacity.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities; able to manage multiple deadlines in a high-energy setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels, including dignitaries and members of the public.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience coordinating and executing high-profile functions and events.
  • Prior experience working in a governmental or political setting.
