Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center has an opening for a Medical Billing Specialist. The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely preparation, submission, and follow-up of insurance claims to appropriate payers through both electronic and paper methods. This position ensures that payer-specific billing requirements are met, monitors assigned claims for timely follow-up and resolution. Submits appeals for denied claims when necessary. It also includes applying appropriate adjustments, responding to billing inquiries, and maintaining accurate patient account records. Confidentiality of patient information is essential and must be upheld in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. The Medical Billing Specialist works independently with minimal supervision and reports directly to the Director of Revenue Cycle.

Skills, Knowledge, & Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Hospital Billing and/or Coding Certification preferred.
• Two years of related Medical Insurance billing experience required.
• Critical Access Hospital (CAH) experience preferred.
• EPIC experience is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a drive to provide exceptional service.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication, and computer proficiency specifically in Microsoft Office and online software.

This is a Full-Time position that is eligible for benefits. * SCHHC pays the full employee-only amount for Health, Dental, Vision, and Basic Life & AD&D insurance. *

Employment with Southern Coos Hospital is contingent upon an acceptable pre-employment drug screening and background check.
