Join the UA Museum of the North's Education and Public Programs team! Share your passions for art, culture, and natural history. Plan activities and events for families to connect with museum collections.

The UA Museum of the North seeks a part-time outreach specialist. As a member of the Education and Public Programs division, the outreach specialist will manage the museum’s Family Day program (~5 events per year). Focusing on themes, develop activities for Family Days based on museum collections and research, as well as special projects and partnerships. Coordinate all aspects of event planning: select and create activities; invite and work with collaborators including museum researchers, other UAF partners, culture bearers, and community organizations; schedule volunteers; plan and purchase supplies; create floor plans; and oversee event operations and logistics. Build new and foster existing relationships with UAF and community partners. 

Attention to detail is crucial. Ability to work collaboratively and with diverse audiences is necessary. Must also be able to self-initiate and work independently.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least one year of teaching or interpretive experience is required. Demonstrated experience working in outreach and/or with partners.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a part-time (approximately 20 hours per week), non-exempt, temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the  UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 77, based on education and experience.
