The School Accompanist supports the vocal music program by providing high-quality piano accompaniment for choir rehearsals, performances, and events. The ideal candidate is a skilled pianist with the flexibility to support both in-school and after-school commitments, including the demands of competitive show choir season.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide piano accompaniment for daily choir rehearsals across multiple ensemble levels (e.g., beginning, intermediate, advanced, and show choir groups).
• Accompany soloists, small groups, and full ensembles during concerts, festivals, auditions, assessments, and other school-sanctioned performances.
• Attend and accompany all after-school rehearsals as scheduled, including tech weeks, dress rehearsals, and sectional work.
• Serve as accompanist during show choir season, including competitions, weekend travel (as needed), and choreography rehearsals.
• Collaborate closely with choral directors to understand rehearsal objectives, repertoire, and performance expectations.
• Work with Coordinator of Performing Arts to pllan tuning schedule for all major pianos in the performing arts department
• Assist with music preparation, including marking scores, providing tempo cues, etc.
• Support the musical aspects of any school musicals or interdisciplinary performing arts events as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in piano performance with strong sight-reading skills.
• Experience accompanying vocalists and large ensembles.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of musical styles (classical, contemporary, pop, musical theatre, etc.).
• Punctuality, professionalism, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with music staff, students, and families.
