Description:

The Records Manager at Los Angeles Air Force Base will support the Base Records Management program. This role involves collaborating with the Base Records Manager (BRM) and serving as the alternate BRM, as well as the primary and alternate Unit Records Manager (URM) for the 61st Communications Squadron (61 CS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs) for each URM at least once every 24 months or upon request.
  • Train records professionals within three months of their appointment to ensure proper compliance and efficient operations.
  • Support geographically separated units, which may require occasional travel.
  • Collaborate with the Space Base Delta 3 (SBD 3) Publications and Forms Manager to develop LAAFB publications, review Base Instructions, and ensure the timely processing of forms and publications in compliance with DAFI 90-160 and DAFMAN 90-161.
  • Monitor Personally Identifiable Information (PII) breaches, analyze privacy complaints, and ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
  • Manage and maintain SharePoint sites, ensuring proper content updates, permission structures, and site creation or deletion as needed.
  • Interface with various Air Force, Space Force, and federal agencies to determine the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) for records and privacy matters.
Requirements:
  • A Certified Records Manager (CRM) certification or similar credential is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Air Force Records Management policies, particularly AFI 33-322, and a solid understanding of DoD privacy regulations.
  • Experience conducting SAVs, implementing training programs, and performing compliance audits is essential.
  • Knowledge of Privacy Act and FOIA compliance, along with experience in publishing and forms management under DAFI 90-160 and DAFMAN 90-161, is necessary.
  • Technical expertise in SharePoint site management, data organization, and access control is required.
  • Ability to conduct PII scans, analyze security compliance, and coordinate with multiple federal agencies is crucial.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support geographically separated units, though such instances are expected to be infrequent.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information management, records management, or a related field is preferred, along with a minimum of three years of experience in records management, compliance, or information governance within a government or military environment. Alternatively, candidates may qualify with five (5) years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance to handle sensitive and classified information as necessary.
