This position is Hybrid and eligible for telework up to three (3) days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under direction of the Information Technology (IT) Supervisor II, the IT Specialist I in the Department of General Services Enterprise Technology Solutions within the Business Technology Management domain, acts as project test leader on complex IT systems, resolves IT system problems, and independently performs analysis and activities on IT systems and/or teleprocessing networks/systems.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code.  The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests.  The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for a visa sponsorship or a training plan, now or in the future.

Special Requirements

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Experience with various stages and types of testing, including System, Regression, Integration, Smoke, Load, Stress, Security, Accessibility, Functional, API, Data, Manual, Automation, and End-to-End testing.

• Experience designing logical test plans, writing, and executing test scripts, and completing follow-up results documentation.

• Experience analyzing design documentation and requirements, identifying gaps, and creating test deliverables.

• Proficiency in database concepts, including query languages, schemas, and tables, with the ability to write and execute SQL queries.

• Strong oral and written communication skills, including facilitating meetings with technical and non-technical audiences.

• Working experience with responsive web design, user-centered design, usability testing, and cross-browser compatibility testing.

• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain cooperative working relationships and work independently or in a team environment.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with effective time management and multi-tasking abilities.

• Ability to work under pressure with a flexible and positive outlook.

• Demonstrated ability in setting up automation frameworks and leading test automation using C#, Playwright, and NUnit.
