Salary Range $78,000.00 - $120,016.00 Salary/year
Description Primary Function: Under the supervision of a Speech and Language Pathologist, the Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) provides services to students with disabilities in accordance with IEP goals; assists in case management of services to students; maintains records and documentation. The SLPA focuses on developing students' oral communication skills to support their ability to access their educational program.
Essential Function: Under the supervision of a Speech and Language Pathologist, the SLPA will:
- Provide direct treatment to students with speech-language impairments
- Conduct speech-language screening using age-appropriate screening protocols developed by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
- Develop and implement educationally-based IEP communication goals using a variety of service delivery models to support the classroom curriculum
- Follow and implement treatment plans
- Document student progress towards meeting established goals and objectives
- Assist SLP in conducting formal assessments, preparing materials, and performing clerical duties for a supervising SLP
- Participate in IEP meetings of students on assigned caseload
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure that students meet the goals outlined in their IEPs
- Provide individualized classroom strategies to facilitate specific communication skills
- Communicate with families of students on assigned caseload regarding progress toward IEP goals
- Participate as a member of the Special Education team
- Manage special projects as they relate to Special Education
Communications - Communicate effectively, both orally & in writing, with students, parents, & other professionals routinely.
- Respond to parent and colleague communications in a respectful and timely manner.
- Complete and submit weekly lesson plans to supervisor and involved colleagues in a timely manner.
- Complete and submit quarterly progress reports and/or narratives in a timely manner.
- Participate professionally in scheduled meetings (grade level; faculty; Whole Child Assessments; Professional Development, etc.).
Professionalism and Teamwork - Model professional behaviors and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the broader community.
- Maintain reliable, consistent attendance and punctuality.
Non-Essential Functions: - Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist in other school programs when necessary.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders from an institution listed in the Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education handbook and completion of 100 hours of fieldwork or clinical experience from a Board-approved program
