We are looking for a skilled Tax Preparer to join our team in Smithfield, Virginia. This long-term contract position involves providing comprehensive bookkeeping and tax preparation services to a diverse range of business clients. The role offers flexibility, allowing you to work part-time or on a consistent schedule, provided you can meet with clients as needed. This is an on-site role, requiring hands-on expertise in accounting and tax preparation.

Responsibilities:
• Manage bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
• Perform bank reconciliations and oversee month-end closing processes.
• Prepare and file payroll taxes while managing payroll for business clients.
• Compile and produce accurate financial statements for client review.
• Handle tax preparation tasks for individual, corporate, and S-Corp tax returns.
• Provide support for fiduciary account management, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their financial needs and provide tailored accounting solutions.
• Utilize QuickBooks and Sage software to maintain client accounting records.
• Prepare tax returns using Lacerte Tax Software, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations.• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of five years' experience in accounting and individual tax return preparation.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Lacerte Tax Software.
• Strong knowledge of corporate income tax and S-Corp tax preparation.
• Experience with federal income tax regulations and compliance.
• Solid understanding of bookkeeping practices, including payroll and reconciliations.
• Ability to work on-site and effectively communicate with clients.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
