Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Upholsterer is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and conservation of the vessel’s upholstery, carpets, wallpapers, and related decorative elements. The Senior Upholsterer or the Upholsterer appointed by the Hotel Maintenance Manager shall serve as the Supervisor of the Upholstery Division, overseeing daily operations and team coordination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Royal Caribbean Group's The Royal Way, SQM standards, USPH guidelines, environmental, and safety policies. Employees may be required to perform functions across various venues and areas on the ship.

Complete the familiarization form of Chapter 2 following established procedures.; Be familiar with the Safety & Quality Management Program, including responsibilities within the Safety Organization as outlined in the Emergency Plan and Station Bill.; Responsible for the maintenance and repair of furniture, carpets, wallpapers, awnings, and decorative items in both crew and passenger areas.; Manage inventory and control of fabrics, textiles, and materials related to upholstery and decoration. Ensure timely requisitions to support smooth vessel operations.; Respond promptly to any problems or passenger complaints requiring upholstery or decorative repairs. Familiarity with passenger complaint resolution procedures (Chapter 5.05 of the Fleet Operations Manual) is essential.; Be prepared to take action during off-duty hours if required in emergency situations.; Always use the proper safety and protective equipment during daily operations.; Attend meetings, training sessions, courses, and other work-related activities as required.; Perform any other duties as assigned by supervision or management. Hiring Requirements:
Proven experience as a craftsman in upholstery, sewing, carpeting, wallpapering, textiles, or related fields.; Knowledge of safety procedures and basic safety training prior to employment.; ;
Language Requirements:
Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests.; Ability to read and write in English to understand procedures, give/receive instructions, and communicate effectively with guests, supervisors, and colleagues.;
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand, walk, handle materials, reach, talk, hear, and sense smell.; Must have full range of vision (including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception) and the ability to adjust focus.; Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.; Must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills, including lowering lifeboats, with full use of arms, legs, and sensory abilities.;
