Position Summary: The position of Editorial Assistant reports to the Managing Editor in the Creative Services department and is a member of a team responsible for the organization’s publications, including a magazine, study guides, books, and other written materials. The Editorial Assistant reviews written content to ensure it is factually accurate, is free from theological, spelling, or grammatical errors, and is ready for publication. The Editorial Assistant also maintains accurate records related to editorial content and communicates with other Turning Point teams in relation to upcoming resources. The editorial team works within tight deadlines, and each team member must be able to multitask and prioritize assignments to ensure all tasks are completed on time. Key Responsibilities: Edit Turning Point Resources for: Readability – Copy must flow well, be interesting, and contain good diction. Accuracy – Scriptural references and theological teaching must be accurate. Voice – Consideration of the specific audience and the origin of each document is required. Consistency – Copy should conform to house rules and reflect proper grammar and punctuation. Scholastic Standards – Quotations and references must be verified. Complete assigned administrative tasks Update master files Compile information for other Turning Point departments Create production schedules Other tasks as assigned Qualifications: Solid grasp of English grammar and punctuation rules Excellent proofreading skills Ability to recognize errors in copy and compose suggested corrections Consistent application of grammar/punctuation and house style rules Detail oriented Proficient in Microsoft Office Knowledge of biblical terminology and theology Ability to function as a team player Desire to learn and grow in position Effective written and verbal communication skills Strong administrative and organizational skills Bachelor’s degree in English or Communications (or 1-3 years of equivalent experience) Punctual, reliable, and professional Preferred Familiar with The Chicago Manual of Style Strong problem-solving skills Familiar with ClickUp project management software Experience in Christian ministry or the publishing industry Other: The expected salary for this position is $26.00 - $27.50 an hour. The actual compensation offered will depend on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience, skills, and location. In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package.
