The Maintenance Lead is responsible for leading a team of Maintenance Technicians by assigning and monitoring work assignments, mentoring and training staff, leading by example, exhibiting professionalism, communicating expectations, and developing working relationship with the maintenance team. The Maintenance Lead performs complex tasks related to day-to-day inspections, preventive maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment and stays proficient in various skilled trades. Essential job functions include assisting supervisor in assigning and monitoring work assignments, mentoring, training, and providing technical expertise to staff, performing complex tasks related to inspections, preventive maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, roofing, etc. Oversees and trains Maintenance Technicians in maintenance, repairs, and projects related to campus facilities, including electrical repairs, plumbing system repairs, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems maintenance. Responds to emergency situations, performs routine building inspections, creates quotes for union labor projects, and demonstrates excellent customer relations skills. Provides maintenance support such as snow and ice removal, general support during special events, and assists other trades as needed. Maintains accurate records of equipment repairs, maintenance, and expenditures, reviews purchase invoices, and makes routine purchases as authorized. Fosters a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and community members. Additional duties include attending department meetings and training, assisting police during emergencies, and working assigned schedule with regular attendance. Minimum education and experience required: High School Diploma or GED and five years of experience in various trades. Licenses: State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to gain access to work sites, insurable to operate a vehicle. Physical and working conditions include exposure to outdoor elements, noisy equipment, and potential minor injuries.
