Job Description
Overall responsibility for the operation and control over paper machine.
Primary Duties - Oversee equipment and machinery panel indicators, gauges, level indicators, and other equipment instruments
- Monitor activities of the Stock Prep Operator and Backtender to see that they are properly performing their duties in a manner that is consistent with the current operating strategies as defined by Crew Supervisor
- Work with crew to make necessary adjustments and start up or shut down machinery and equipment as required. Call for maintenance assistance as needed
- Pulling in brake hub-operate controls-feeding sheet-setting up winder
- Monitor mill water balance and take corrective actions where needed
- Ensure control room and wet end housekeeping is properly maintained
- Collect samples and carry out testing
- Complete production reports
- Fills in as acting supervisor when crew supervisor is out
- Participate in hazard identification
- Follow all safety policies, and safe work practices
- Comply with all safety signs and PPE requirements
- Listen and learn from any training. Be an active participant in learning a job skill or safety issue.
- Ask for assistance if the training or instruction is not clear or you don't feel comfortable in performing the task correctly and safely.
- Report unsafe acts and near misses immediately.
- Address problems with the supervisor ASAP. BUT always try to give solutions to every problem. (You may understand more than the supervisor about the problem and how to fix it.)
- Re-address issues with the supervisor on un-resolved topics discussed in the past. (The supervisor may have forgotten about those topics.)
- Be an active member in the safety of the workplace. Participate in Safety Committee Meetings, Safety Meetings, and when trained on a safety issue.
Job Qualifications - High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Safe operation of paper machineryon the job training
- Previous experience at other levels of papermaking process
- Previous knowledge of papermaking process is required in order to direct day to day operations and troubleshoot problems
